Our work in education sector data generation has contributed immensely in successful policies in various states in Nigeria. Among our outstanding contributions to policies in South West Nigeria, we have led a Beneficiary Assessment for Lagos State’s education sector’s Eko Project (2012/2013); led a Monitoring & Evaluation Study on the MDGs budget, projects and programmes (2006/2007) in all South West state in Nigeria on behalf Presidency; and piloted the first ever Out of School Census in some communities in Lagos State.

Since 2008, InnovationMatters has been involved in providing technical support in connection with public sector revenue and expenditure fiscal analysis. We are currently providing services to (DFID’s) State Accountability and Voice initiative (SAVI) in an assessment of the 7 sectors.

We have undertaken a series of baseline surveys help set the basic indicators for measuring the progress and implementation successes in the Lagos State Office of Transformation (OoT), Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education, Lagos State Bureau of Statistics.

We measure the impacts of the Maternal and Child Mortality Programme in Lagos State and the capacity of Primary Health Centres (PHCs) to perform functions for basic emergency obstetric and neonatal care. Integrated Supportive Supervision (ISS) & On-the-Job Capacity Building (OJCB) tools are applied in this process.

InnovationMatters has been providing technical support for the integrative health planning in Lagos State. We coordinate the regular data collection through community needs assessments projects across 20 local government areas and 37 local community development areas at state level. In collaboration with the Lagos State Civil Society Partnership (LACSOP) and community groups, InnovationMatters developed an extensively participatory framework for collecting and transferring information needed for health planning and implementation.

Our other technical support to the health system has included budget analysis (2009-2012); community health needs assessments; and measuring accessibility levels of public services and facilities such as those relating to health for persons with disability. Distinctively, InnovationMatters has developed a framework for collecting and transferring information needed for health planning and implementation in Lagos State.
